Embracing My Own Bravery: Taking the Leap with Gratitude and a little grace
As a therapist, I spend a lot of time encouraging others to face their fears, take risks, and trust in their resilience. But recently, I found myself at a crossroads, needing to take my own advice. Let’s just say it wasn’t as smooth as I like to make it sound in sessions. There were moments of “Can I really do this?” and the occasional wave of doubt (thank you, self-doubt). But you know what? I took the leap anyway.
Giving Myself Grace (and Laughing at the Stumbles)
It’s funny how the same advice I give my clients also applies to me: growth happens when we push ourselves, even if it’s a little uncomfortable. The truth is, I’m still figuring things out, and that’s okay. I’m giving myself the grace to stumble, laugh at my mistakes, and learn along the way. No one has it all together, therapists included!
You’re Not Alone in Your Leap
I’m sharing this because I know many of you are in the middle of your own leaps, and I want to remind you that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you take that first step. Heck, I’m still figuring things out myself. But with every leap, no matter how messy, there’s something to be grateful for, because it means we’re growing.
We’re All in This Together
So, here I am, embracing my own journey with a lot of grace, a little humor, and the excitement of what comes next. If you’re feeling unsure about your own leap, take a deep breath and know that it’s okay to stumble. I’m right there with you, learning as I go and cheering you on every step of the way.
Wherever you are on your journey, give yourself grace. Growth is never perfect, but every step forward matters.—Steph
